Sunday Stroll...

This past Sunday a friend called and asked if we would like to go with their family on a hike to a waterfall. We are not real outdoors people but they have three kids, the youngest being 2 so we thought how bad could it be? Dayton was so excited to be with friends as we started up the hill. Well, that hill turned into a mountain that went from sand to rock, and went on for almost an hour each way. We were not prepared for this to say the least and we had Dayton and Camrie with us. Poor Dayton kept asking just what I was thinking... how much longer. The view and waterfall at the top were beautiful once we finally made it, but to be honest with you I will probably never do that hike again.

I thought this was where we were going but I found out that it was not even close. But there were some cool rocks and things all around on the way up. It reminded me a little of VA.

Dayton and his little legs were so good. He walked all the way up and all the way down. There were some huge rocks to clime, but Dayton's favorite part was throwing the small ones. On the way home we asked if he wanted to do that again and he almost started crying.

Poor Kyle, I carried Camrie for the first 10 min, and the last 10 minutes and Kyle carried her the rest. Camrie seemed to be handling the hike okay as she took a nap in the middle, but it was a bumpy ride. Those 14 lbs really start to get heavy when you are rock climbing.

Here we are at the top. As you can see it was not exactly a party for the kids, they were pretty warn out and going down was not much better. But we made it with only a few bumps and bruises!

Green Green Grass

Saturday was another busy day but the end was in sight and we were ready. The guys started at about 10 and finished around 2. We had 4-5 guys helping us out and they did a great job and were so fast. This never ending project is now done and we are so excited to enjoy it. Sometime soon we will decorate it with trees and flowers, but for now we are loving more grass and less dirt!

Here is what the grass looked like when it was delivered. There were 14 pallets dropped off and we used all but one and a half.

There was great team work going on. Two guys wheelbarrowed the grass to the spot and two others lined it up and un-rolled it. This seemed to work well because they were speedy.

Dayton and JJ were out helping the dads, but there seemed to be more playing then working. Dayton no longer has his dirt to play in.

Here is the finished product of the back yard, it was worth waiting for!

4 month check-up

Camrie went to the doctor almost two weeks ago and is growing like crazy. This was her 4 month check up and she had to get 4 more shots which she did not like and it made all three of us so sad. (Dayton was there too and would only go in the room when he realised that we were not there for him). The shots seem to make Camrie a little out of it for a few days and she was pretty sad, but she is back to her normal smiley self that we love! The latest update is that she is she is 24.5 in tall and weighs 13lbs 12 oz.
Camrie is starting to take naps in her crib so we are slowly making the adjustment and she went to a sitters for the first time yesterday with her brother while mom went on a much needed shopping trip to get ready for our big trip to VA. They were just down the street at a friends house and all Dayton and Camrie and the sitter survived!

Busy Busy Busy

OK, well all I have to say is I was not prepared for all this yard work, (and I did the least work). We were told by friends and neighbors that, oh it is easy to do... well guess again because we have been outside on and off for the past three weeks. Kyle has been up early and we have stayed out late trying to get everything ready for the sprinklers and grass. This was more then I bargained for, but we are excited because the process is almost done and we should have grass soon. I was not much help outside but I did do some digging and raking, mostly I was the gofer and babysitter. I had to make sure that I did not lose any of the kids of the guys who helped us. I made food, and there were a lot of hot days so I was the drink lady. I will be happy when this is done so my wood floors will be wood again instead of dirt. It did make me feel a little better when John, our friend and the guy who is showing us what to do, told me that he never tells people how much work it really is because then he knows they won't do it. It is not that it is so hard, it is just a ton of work. But I know it will all be worth it when we are done.

This is where it all started. We added a little extra cement patio for a grill and outside toys, (both of which we don't have but we are ready when we do)!

We were lucky it was a cool morning the day we pored the cement because we had a few tool issues...

but Kyle and a few buddies that helped us worked hard and fast...
And as you can see it turned out beautiful, and we already love it!

Then we moved onto project #2. The whole yard was torn up by a trencher so we could lay the pipe for the sprinklers. Kyle and I followed the trencher and dug out all the extra dirt that had fallen in. We were out there from about 9am till 9pm. Again, not prepared for that one!

You can see all the lines that are darker show you a few of the lines that had to be dug out so we could lay the pipe. The hardest part was trying to keep Dayton and the neighbor kids from jumping in and out of all the holes!

Then a little fun came along, and it was well deserved. Kyle and Dayton were trying to level the dirt to get ready for the grass.

And it was a dusty job to say the least, we were all covered.

In case you have not noticed we are all a little exhausted and have had some busy days. Dayton too has worked extra hard at playing while his parents were a little absent from parenting. There were a few days he skipped his nap and it was everything I could do just to get him to eat. He was not sitting down for five minutes when he was out cold. Power Rangers could not even keep him awake, and if you look close you will see that his hand is in his bowl. He was too tired to even finish eating!

Camrie is getting active

Camrie is tired of people not bouncing her so she learned how to do it herself! Then Dayton saw that Camrie was being cute so he thought he would join in on the action. (poor guy just got too excited and poked his eye while trying to say hello!)

Camrie is getting so big so fast and we are sad, but loving every minute of it!

Crazy Busy Weekend

We had a crazy, busy weekend and it started with Kyle's first softball game last Friday night. He was a little nervous that he might be a little rusty after not having picked up a bat since last season, so I assured him he would do fine. He went 4-4 with a double, two singles, and a home run! He should thank Dayton for the off season practice in the family room.
Then the next morning we headed down to Provo for Kenzi's baptism. Sadly we missed Jenny's Graduation, but we heard that it was great. So we were on our way and like always Dayton is past excited and every 30 seconds he asks if we are there yet. (I always call Dayton my baby, and Kyle always calls him his little buddy). So Kyle says to Dayton, "hey buddy, we are almost there, are you ready?" And Dayton says, "ya buddy", which made us laugh. Then Kyle asks, "are you my buddy?" and Dayton's reply was, "Daddy's my buddy and Mommy's my baby."
So the baptism went great and then we had a big lunch and hung out for a while before most of us headed up to our house for the night. Dayton was so excited because he got to have a sleep-over with his friends Kyon and Camden, (his almost 10 and 6 year old cousins).
Then Sunday morning we headed up to Preston, Idaho where we were able to be there for Tayla's baby blessing followed by another awesome lunch. Kyle is thrilled that not only has he had tons of in-law time, but he has gotten to know the in-laws, in-laws!
We had so much fun we did not take a single picture. Papa and Nana Decker even came to stay the night before they went back to Virginia and we still did not take a picture. So just imagine tons of people and good food and that was our weekend!
