It started out as fixing some dead spots in the grass back in March. After a bunch of holes in the yard and a bit of a mess we decided to redo some of the backyard. We had an idea of what we wanted but no idea how much work it would be. A long 3 months later... we love it.
First we had to rent a sod cutter to get rid of all the grass. Then we borrowed a tiller to dig up all the dirt.
Then our friend (Danny) came and dug it out for us.
He filled this dump truck with dirt and there was a little extra.
Added some gravel.
Framed the two areas.
Then it rained on and off for weeks so we had to wait for the ground to dry to pour the cement.
Finally on June 6th with a chance of rain we got the cement. The rain held off long enough and a bunch of people helped us get it poured.
Some of the men worked for hours. It was a really hot day and the cement was drying very fast.
Thanks to all that helped us, it turned out great.
Time to clean it up and get the yard back to normal.
Added some new sod where it was needed.
And the last thing was the fire pit.

It took 72 stones that we carried one by one to the backyard including the kids and Grandma Jody, but it turned out great.

We have already used it a few times and plan on using it lots more.
