Snowman in April

This is not a joke, these were taken this morning.

It started snowing last night, but we did not think too much of it. At about 1:3o this morning Dayton come into our room after having a bad dream, to help calm him down I showed him the snow and told him we will build a snowman in the morning. It worked and he went right back to sleep and so did I. Well, when he woke up to my surprise he remembered that we were going to build a snowman, and to my disappointment the snow was still there.

So after breakfast we all got bundled up and here is our snowman. Dayton says it is just his size. And he wanted to make his face out of silly string. Whatever I said as I wanted to go inside, but Dayton and Camrie had other ideas.

Dayton wanted to destroy the snowman we just built.

And Camrie wanted to clean the sidewalk, so we shoveled...

and Dayton killed Frosty, such a boy.

Easter Sunday

We had a quiet Easter at home this year. Dayton remembered that the bunny came and brought him candy in eggs that he hid. So every morning for about a week Dayton asked if it was Easter yet. Well that day finally came and the kids found great surprises. After all the excitement we were able to watch conference on t.v. as we heard from our church leaders who helped remind us what Easter is all about, and we are so grateful for that.

The Easter Bunny took a time out of his busy day to come see us at our local store on Saturday. We went all excited to see the bunny, play games, get candy, but all that was there was the bunny. And as Dayton pointed out to me, "he didn't even talk". So Dayton came to the conclusion that this was not the real Easter Bunny, but his helper. And I completely agreed.

Here they are petting him. Not really sure why, but I was just glad Camrie would go to him. And then I could not get her away, and she giggled every time she stood by him. I am pretty sure she even made it in a few other family pictures.

Easter Morning

We had a late night out with friends Saturday night, so Dayton did not get up till almost 9, and then he was kind enough to wait for Camrie to wake up. When he woke me up he was all excited because he knew the bunny had come. I asked him how he knew and he told me, "because I can see some eggs, but all I see are pink and purple eggs. I don't want pink and purple eggs those are girl colors." Well much to his relief he found that his were blue and green.

At first they were all into their baskets, but once we told them to find the eggs there was no stopping them. Dayton was on a mission, and even Camrie was close behind finding most her eggs by herself.

It was so cute, every time Camrie found an egg she would jump and squeal or giggle and run to get it. One was in the corner of the couch and she dove for it. Kyle and I loved watching the kids get so excited.

Before long all the eggs were found and it was candy eating time.

Other then candy they also got, bubbles, chalk, shoes, a toy, Camrie got a dress and Dayton a sweatshirt. And one of Dayton's favorite things was $1. Thanks to all the grandparents, the kids had a great Easter.

Bitter-Sweet-Sixteen

Chance of a lifetime, Kyle and I went to see the Orange "Cuse" play in the March Madness sweet sixteen game last Thursday. What are the chances that a northern NY team, Kyle's team, would be playing here in Utah. There was no question that we had to be there. Just getting the tickets was exciting as we watched and waited for good deals then tried to get them before they sold out. We were minutes too late a few times, but we found that by waiting till Thursday we were able to get some great seats for a great deal and we were not disappointed... till later that night when Syracuse was defeated by Butler. It was quite a heartbreak, but Kyle handled it with class and silence. It did put a little damper on our night, but we still had an amazing time, it's just a win would have have made it perfect.

We were pumped and ready for the game to start. Thanks to my sister who watched Dayton and Camrie so we were able to get there early to get our seats and hang out all night.

Here was our view all night. We saw 2 great games, but the second had a better outcome. We got to see the double overtime Kansas St. win over Xavier. What a game that was, it did help our spirits some as it was a such great game.

We Scream for Ice Cream

Last week we went on a field trip, with Dayton, to a local ice cream shop to learn how they make the ice cream and cones. And then we just had to taste our work to make sure it was just right.

Here are some of the boys in Dayton's class waiting to make the ice cream.

Here we go... This was the first step adding the cream and coloring and then watching it go round and round.

Here we are by the cones. They make two types from the waffle maker, a cone and a bowl. They were hot and looked like really thin waffles.
Every kid got to pick what topping they wanted with the ice cream they had made. Shocker that the most popular one was bubble gum to go along with their cotton candy ice cream, yum.

This was taken and then the mess really started. She had ice cream all over her and the table. But she did not seem to care because all she kept saying was, "yummmm, mmmmmm"!

Family Get Together

Last weekend we went down to Provo for Camden, our nephew's, baptism. It was a great weekend & most of my family was there.

There was lots of play time before and after the baptism. The kids played all weekend.

The girls played too as we had a girls night out.

The guys stayed home to babysit while we went to dinner and were treated to pedicures. It was wonderful.

It was my sisters Kim, Jenny and Jaci, my sister-in-law Kristen and my niece Kenzi, my mom and I.

We had the place to ourselves and talked and laughed the whole time.

TA-DA. Flowers and all.

We did let the babies come with us. Here are the newest additions to our family, Reese and Carson.

ARE YOU READY?!

Last weekend was the NBA All-star weekend and so it was also basketball weekend in the Spaulding home. We all got our uniforms on, moved the furniture, and got ready to play some ball. This has become a tradition in our home and I'm not sure who likes it more, the adults or the kids? Oh and Happy Valentines weekend too!

Sassy Pants

I would just like to take this moment as I have just put Camrie to bed to share with you our day.

It started out with Kyle going to get her out of her crib and bringing her into bed with us. Something she usually loves but this morning she kicked and screamed in my ear until I let her down so she could go down stairs with Dayton. Then I made pancakes for breakfast and she ate her first one fine and wanted another one so I got it for her and she decided that she did not need a plate. So she dumped it and ate it off the counter, syrup and all. Then when she was done she climbed up on the counter stepping in the syrup and yelled, "Mom I done". Then as I was doing the dishes she decides to dump out a bag of cereal and step on it till it is crushing into the carpet and of course we don't have a vacuum at the moment so this means I am going to have to borrow the neighbors again. So for this she got yelled at and decides to run to daddy for help, screaming, and Kyle, who is working home now, is on the phone and she is yelling at him. So I get yelled at because he is on the phone and can't hear while I am trying to clean up the smashed cereal. So I have to kick the kids upstairs while I finish the dishes. Then I get the kids dressed and have done Camrie's hair and I am putting on my make-up, (while she is screaming and hitting me to go outside), when I look down and see Camrie wiping her nose off with the whole bottom of her new clean shirt. To make things better she has pulled half her pony tail out so her hair is sticking out everywhere. So by this time I had had it and put her down for a nap.

Then this evening came and while I was making dinner she got a hold of Dayton's water bottle filled with lemon aid and some how got the lid off and dumped it all over herself, the counter, chair, and floor. I get that cleaned up and the kids want a banana so I get them one and a few minutes later Camrie finds Dayton's that was not all eaten and decides to squish it between her hands, then her toes as she digs it into the carpet. So we eat dinner and I see that she needs a tissue and I go to get one and she decides to rub the snot all through her fingers and all over her face. So once again I have had it and say ok it is time for bed, but she cries for a drink so I get her some water and tell her to say goodnight to daddy. Then she goes in and right in front of him takes a drink and spits it out, again all over the carpet. All of this with a 3 hour nap and a 2 hour play day. You would think there was not enough time in one day, but she found time for it all.

I am hoping tomorrow brings a little less kicking, yelling, screaming, dumping, crushing, spilling, hitting, and spitting.

Field Trip

Dayton's class went on a field trip last week to a gym to learn how to eat healthy and exercise. Camrie and I were allowed to tag along and the kids loved it. There was music, running around, and hanging out with friends.

Camrie found this ball somewhere and would not give it up the whole time we were there.

I thought Camrie would love being with the other kids, but she mostly just did her own thing and got mad and yelled when the other kids got in her way.

Camrie Turned 2

Our baby girl turned two this past Sunday on the 10th, and though it was a little hard for me she has been saying it for months, so I guess I should have been ready. She is such a joy to our family with a burst of energy and a spicy attitude. She knows what she wants and usually gets it. She is a great communicator with her different level's of screams, though she seems to learn new words every day and is even starting to put little sentences together. Her newest thing is a really high pitch fake laugh that she likes to do all the time and she thinks she is hilarious. She is still a blondy, but it seems to be getting darker as the months pass, but her beautiful blue eyes seem to be here to stay. Some of our favorite words are "saucy" (sorry), "scuscu"(scuse you), and "de de"(Dayton). Her other favorite thing is to call your name over and over until you answer her and then with a smile says "hi", then repeats it over and over. During the Christmas holiday she felt the need to comment on every house that had lights on it by saying "wow" or "look" and repeating this until someone acknowledged her and agreed. She loves her big brother whether it is to play with him or annoy him, and she goes back and forth between being a mamma's girl and a daddy's girl.

Jody and Mike left just a few days before Camries birthday so we had a little party before they left.

We had some cake.

And all eyes were on the frosting. It was all that the kids ate, and then asked for another piece.

Here is Dayton having a little sample. It took us a little while to get Camrie to blow the candles out, but after Dayton and I both showed her, she finally blew them out all by herself.

Here are the kids on Camire's actual birthday. We let her open the presents before church so she would have a little time to play with them.

Dayton was convinced that it was both of their birthdays and he kept singing "Happy Birthday" to Dayton and Camire.

This is the gift that Dayton picked out for Camrie and was so excited to give it to her. He was also excited because he picked one out for himself. In fact he made out pretty well getting 3 new things for himself. "One for Camrie and one for me". Is what he kept telling me while we were shopping.

Of everything she got this was one of her favorites. "Nanny"!! (candy)

Here is our birthday girl all ready for church. Thanks to Papa and Nana Decker for the much needed cute dress.

After dinner the kids took a bubble bath that they loved and then since we had already had cake we did out other favorite thing, milkshakes and popcorn with a movie. It was a great ending to a great day.
