Poor Taryn is addicted to her thumb. We knew it was bad and have been trying for years to get her to stop, but she just couldn't. She is not only messing up her teeth, but her whole jaw... So it was time to take some action and get the professionals involved.
She had spacers put in to make room for the mouth piece. Sadly this was pretty painful for her.
Then 4 days later they took impressions of her teeth to make the guard.
Then we went back the next day to get it glued in for 6 months. She was a champ and did great the whole time.
I told her that she had the biggest best smile. She did not think that was funny. She was a great sport at the orthodontist, but she cried all the way home.
And that was not the worst of it. Talking is hard because she thinks she sounds funny, and everything gets stuck when she eats, so there are lots of things she can't eat anymore. Luckily this is not a forever thing.
She got this put in on Wednesday. Thursday morning she came to me and it had already fallen out. So we had to go back to have it put back in. Fingers crossed that this time it sticks and we can kick this bad habit.
